Packaroo Refresh

As part of a general refresh, I spearheaded some workflow and layout enhancements shown below. Demo video and screenshots are from xCode simulator.

An new 'kanban' layout (left) lays out the packlists for a trip in a horizontal scroll, so that the user can see multiple lists at the same time. I also redesigned the sections within packlists to be collapsible, so when user has checked off everything in the Clothes section (for example) the user can get that list out of the way. Finally, I created an optional header area with cover image to add some visual interest (users will be able to choose a photo or browse a gallery of illustrations).

In keeping with the app's goal of enabling rapid, reuseable packlists, I designed a enhancement that helps users when they create new, empty catalog collections. Tapping Generate List triggers a prompt that uses the collection name, ie. Scuba Gear, to make a call to ChatGPT. This generates a list of items the user can then add to their spiffy new collection. Going back a few years - I like to sketch ideas out in GoodNotes before jumping into code or Figma. Shown above: some early ideas for quickly adding regularly-packed items to a packlist and the feedback to the user showing a 'successfully added' message.
